Games

Organising a fun party can be a lot of work, here are some fun ideas to keep all your guests happy until going home time!!

Statues musicales

Bumps musicales

Jeu Chocolat

Queue de l'ane

Chasse au trésor

Devinez combien

Qui suis-je

Course d'obstacles

Pass the parcel

Wrap a bar of chocolate (or some other gift), in a layer of paper. Now wrap it in another layer and repeat until you have about 10 layers. Finally wrap it in gift paper (so it looks nice). You can put little sweets in each layer if you want.
Sit everyone in a circle and play a short snippet of music. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes ONE layer of wrapping and keeps the sweet or gift. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping has been removed.
The winner keeps the present.

Musical statues

This is like Musical Chairs, but when the music stops, the players have to keep still. Anyone who moves, quivers, shakes, etc. is out. The winner is the last one still playing.

Musical bumps

This is like Musical Chairs, but when the music stops, the players have to sit down.  The last one to sit down is out. The winner is the last one still playing.

Chocolate game

Sit everyone in a circle and place a tray in the middle with a hat, scarf, gloves, knife and fork,a dice and a wrapped bar of chocolate.
In turn, players throw the dice. If they throw a SIX, they must put on the hat, scarf and gloves before they start to unwrap the chocolate with the knife and fork, ad then start to eat it.
To change the game add a second die and require a double SIX.
The Jelly Variation is to turn out a set jelly onto a plate and eat it with the knife and fork.

Donkey's tail

Draw a large donkey (without a tail) on a big piece of cardboard or paper. Cut it out and paint it. Stick or tape it to a door or wall. Draw a separate tail on a piece of cardboard and attach some bluetack to the top of it.
The object of the game is to stick the tail of the donkey as close to its correct position as possible. The child is blindfolded then spun around in a couple of circles and pointed towards the donkey. He/she then wanders over and sticks the tail on. The position where the tail stuck is then marked with the child's name and it is the next child's chance to have a turn. The winner is the one who gets the tail in the closest position.

Treasure hunt

Divide kids into teams depending on how many are at the party. Make up clues and scatter them all over the house (and outside, too, weather permitting). Each clue leads to the next and at the end of the trail is a treasure for the team, for example, food, party favors, or prizes.

Hint: Color code clues so teams only find their own clues. Time the hunt and see which team gets done first.

Guess how many

Fill a jar with candy. Have children write their name on a small piece of paper and their guess as to how many candies are in the jar. The child who guesses the right number, or comes closest, gets a sucker. The candy in the jar is then divided among the children. A variation would be that the winner takes the jar of candy home to share with their family

Who am I ?

When the children come through the door tape a farm animal or item/object to their backs. Through the course of the party they may ask each other yes and no questions about what they are. Explain that the first question they may want to ask is "Am I an animal or an object?" At the end of the party each child takes a turn saying what they think they are. Suggestions: cow, pig, sheep...pitchfork, saddle, horseshoe, hay, milk, barn, tractor, etc...

Obstacle Race

With the sunny days, if you have a garden, you can make your own obstacle race. Put chairs to go round, benches to go under, trees to touch, then time them to see who arrives first. Or put down pieces of cardboard that they have to pick up and when they have them all they can come back to the start.
